Roofing & Building Exterior
Gutters, Soffits & Fascia
Seamless gutters, downspouts, vented soffits and fascia – sized, routed and detailed to move water away and keep the roof edge sound.
Overview
The roof edge does quiet but essential work. Gutters and downspouts collect heavy rainfall and carry it away from walls, entries and foundations. Soffits close the underside of the eaves while letting air into the attic. Fascia boards finish the roof edge and give the gutters something solid to hang from.
Problems at the edge tend to spread. An undersized gutter overflows behind itself and rots the fascia; a downspout that empties beside the slab erodes soil and splashes the walls; a loose soffit panel lets wind-driven rain and pests into the attic. We plan and supervise this work with specialist trade partners, and we look at the whole path of the water – from roof valley to where it leaves the property – rather than just the gutter.
Who it’s for
- New homes completing the roof edge after roofing and stucco
- Owners with overflowing gutters, washed-out beds or standing water near the foundation
- Homes with soft or rotted fascia, peeling paint at the eaves, or sagging soffits
- Re-roofing projects where edge metal, fascia and gutters should be renewed in sequence
- Commercial buildings needing larger gutter and leader systems or replacement of failed ones
What’s included
Typically included
- Review of roof areas, valleys and existing drainage to size gutters and locate downspouts
- Removal of existing gutters, damaged soffit and deteriorated fascia
- Replacement of rotted fascia boards and sub-fascia with suitable lumber or composite trim
- Aluminum fascia wrap, formed to cover wood fascia and reduce maintenance, where specified
- Vented or solid soffit panels, with vent area balanced against ridge or roof vents
- Seamless gutters formed on site, pitched toward outlets and fastened with hidden hangers
- Downspouts with elbows and extensions, splash blocks, or connection to drains where a drainage system exists
- Sealing of end caps, miters and outlets
- Coordination with the roofing contractor at drip edge and edge metal, and with painting for fascia finishes
Common exclusions
- Underground drainage, French drains and swales beyond the downspout connection, priced as site drainage
- Roof covering repairs at the edge, performed by a licensed roofing contractor
- Rafter tail or truss repair if rot extends into the structure, priced once the extent is known
- Exterior painting beyond new fascia and trim
Every proposal lists its own inclusions and exclusions in writing.

How pricing works
Gutters, soffits and fascia are normally priced by the linear foot – of gutter run, downspout, fascia and soffit along the roof edge – with corners, outlets and accessories counted separately. An estimate is built from measured edge lengths, eave depths, the number of downspouts, the materials selected and the condition of the existing fascia.
Rot is often hidden behind old gutters, so replacement estimates usually include a unit price for additional fascia or sub-fascia repair found once the gutters come down.
What changes the cost
- Linear footage of roof edge, gutter and downspout
- Gutter size and material – aluminum, oversized or copper
- Amount of fascia and soffit replacement needed
- Eave depth and number of corners and roof returns
- Building height, second-story eaves and access
- Gutter guards and connections to drainage
If this work is part of a larger project, it’s priced within that project’s budget — please don’t add separate estimates together. Read the pricing guide.
Typical stages
Assess the water path
We review roof areas, valleys, existing gutters and where water currently lands on the site.
Remove and repair
Old gutters and damaged soffit come down, and rotted fascia and sub-fascia are replaced.
Soffit and fascia
Soffit panels and fascia trim or wrap are installed, with attic ventilation kept open.
Gutters and downspouts
Seamless gutters are formed, pitched and hung, and downspouts are placed to discharge away from the building.
Flow check
Gutters are water-tested and we walk the edges with you.
What affects the schedule
- Gutters go on after roofing and exterior painting at the eaves, so they follow those trades
- Wet weather affects removal and sealing work
- Hidden fascia rot can add repair work once old gutters are removed
- Custom colors or copper may need to be ordered in
Questions & answers
Does my home need gutters?
Not every Florida home has them, and the code does not always require them. They are most valuable over entries, walkways, and walls where roof runoff splashes back onto stucco or erodes soil at the foundation.
Why is my fascia rotting?
Common causes are gutters overflowing behind themselves, missing or short drip edge, and roof leaks at the edge. Replacing the fascia without fixing the cause usually leads to the same result, so we look at both.
How do soffits affect the attic?
Vented soffits supply intake air that, together with ridge or roof vents, helps move heat and moisture out of the attic. Covering vents with paint or insulation reduces that airflow.
