Pavers, Driveways & Walkways
Paver and concrete driveways, walkways and pool decks built on properly prepared, compacted bases with drainage and edges planned in.
Overview
A driveway, walkway or pool deck is only as good as what is underneath it. Most failures – settling, rutting, cracking and joints washing out – come from base preparation, compaction, drainage or edge restraint rather than the surface material itself.
We plan hardscape with the house, grading and drainage so water moves away from the building and off the surface. Pavers, concrete and other surfaces are each installed on a base suited to the load they carry, with expansion, edge and joint details that hold up to Florida rain and heat.

How pricing works
Pavers, driveways and walkways are normally priced by square foot of finished surface, based on the material, pattern, base requirements, demolition and site access. The estimate shows the area, the base design and the surface material so you can compare options.
When hardscape is part of a new home or larger outdoor project, it is priced within that project’s budget.
What changes the cost
- Area and shape of the surface
- Paver, stone or concrete selection and pattern
- Base depth and compaction needed for vehicle loads
- Demolition and haul-off of existing surfaces
- Grading and drainage requirements
- Borders, steps, curbs and edge details
- Access and staging on the site
If this work is part of a larger project, it’s priced within that project’s budget — please don’t add separate estimates together. Read the pricing guide.
Typical stages
Site review and layout
We review grades, drainage, existing surfaces and how the area is used.
Selections and estimate
You choose materials and patterns, and we price the defined scope.
Permits and approvals
We secure HOA approval and any right-of-way or driveway permits.
Demolition and base
Existing surfaces are removed, and the base is installed, graded and compacted.
Surface installation
Pavers or concrete are installed with edges, joints and drainage details.
Finish and cleanup
Joints are finished, sealing is applied where selected and the site is cleaned.
What affects the schedule
- Weather, since concrete and base work need dry conditions
- Material and paver availability
- Permit and HOA approval
- Coordination with pool, enclosure and landscape work
Questions & answers
Why do pavers settle or shift?
Most settling comes from insufficient base depth or compaction, poor drainage or missing edge restraints. These are addressed during preparation, before the pavers are laid.
Should pavers be sealed?
Sealing is optional. It can enhance color and help stabilize joint sand, but it requires periodic reapplication. We discuss the trade-offs for your material and use.
Does a new driveway need a permit?
Often, especially where the driveway connects to a public road or crosses a right-of-way. Requirements vary by jurisdiction and HOA.
